Aural Architecture competition 2022 | 8 March – 5 September | Design competition

The competition, Aural Architecture 2022 will be held from 8th March – 5th September. This architecture competition will focus on the use of the sense of sound in designing architectural space. This will depict emotions and humanize the habitable volume surrounded by walls.

Competition details

The designing process of Aural Architecture competition 2022

• Listening to the pieces of music
• Selecting one of the four pieces of music
• Analyzing the music and understanding the emotions
• Wording those emotions and further translating them into architectural space
• It can be any kind of installation or structure
• You should be able to encircle a volume that shows your understanding of the emotions of the music

Specific guidelines

• It is required to mention the artist’s name in the description file of the music piece selected for the design description.
• You need to design an architectural space that denotes musical interpretation.
• The important words to remember in the Aural Architecture competition are ‘sound’ and ‘space’.
• The drawing requirements are conceptual (priority), plans, sections, elevations, and views.
• Supporting the design with all possible explanations (the formats accepted are – text, video, audio, and drawings)
• The reasoning is required for every space that has been designed.

Eligibility criteria for Aural Architecture competition

• Participation is individual or as a team of a maximum of three members.
• This is a competition for all design students and designers.

The participants will be able to develop a sense of sound and link it with architecture. They will also be able to attach emotions to the architectural space. The developed auditory sense will add an element of beauty and harmony to architecture with this competition. An abstract architectural space influenced by sound will be the key feature of the award ceremony. Stay tuned for the online result declaration.
